OPI Sand polish - glitter and texture in one

OPI Sand polish – glitter and texture in one

I love glitter nail polish. I mean, who doesn’t? But it’s a son of a bitch to remove. It takes forever, rips apart an ungodly number of cotton balls, requires a lot of elbow grease, and uses an absurd amount of nail polish remover, even if it’s the powerful acetone-containing kind.

Thankfully, I came across a better way! (I would hat-tip to the original place I found this method if I could remember where it was!)

Step 1: tear five cotton balls in half and tear five long, thin strips of aluminum foilIMG_8609

Step 2: soak a piece of cotton in acetone nail polish remover, place it on a nail, and wrap the nail in a piece of aluminum foil; repeat for all five nails on one hand

Step 3: wait five minutes; I usually play a couple games of solitaire because it’s an easy way to keep track of time, thanks to the built-in timer

Step 5: repeat steps 1-4 on the other hand, using fresh cotton pieces but re-using the same foil pieces

I like to applyΒ a nice cuticle oil and some hand cream after using this method, because acetone will dry out your skin and nails. But I have yet to find a less awful way to remove glitter nail polish. Viva la glitter!

Without even swiping, most of the polish is gone.

One easy swipe, and the nails are completely bare!
